14 underrated movies of Salman Khan you must watch
Whether you like it or not but can’t ignore the popularity of Salman Khan, and we have to admit that audience watch his movie to see him and it’s an undeniable fact that producers are still willing to bet crores of rupees even at his middle of the 50s. His movie qualities are not fit to go in an award function and never impress that much to the film critics, however, it manages to perform excellently on the box office due to his large fans following base. Started his career as a side actor to become one of the highest tax paying Bollywood celebrity, Salman Khan doesn’t achieve it in overnight. Though he forgets his performance now a day still, his career has seen some of his best performances which amaze us where the talent has gone? Yes, our beloved Bhai can act and has given some of the stellar performances in his career and here are the 14 underrated movies of Salman Khan you must watch.
You may not hear about it, but these were the early days of his career where he struggled himself to establish as an actor though he already won the award for Maine Pyar Kiya as a male debutant still, his movies after this were not so impressive, however, he continued to give his best performances. His character as Prithvi who was in jail as a juvenile for killing his abusive father who is responsible for his mother’s suicide and no compromise attitude against atrocity. Though the movie did average business in box office in comparison to its original Telugu blockbuster Prema, still, for the sake of Salman’s acting, you can watch it.
- Maine Pyar Kiya
How can we forget the famous Prem while writing about Bhaijaan’s best performance? The Protagonist’s struggle to change the mind of his girlfriend’s father, who was once humiliated by his father due to the poor financial condition even though both were the childhood friends. The chemistry between him and Bhagyashree adds more excitement to watch this movie even now. Technically it was his second movie whereas as a lead hero it was his first movie and he proved that he was the right choice for the role and won Filmfare as a male debutant.
- Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!
This movie would not be a blockbuster if Salman would absent as a lead character. Everyone has given their best performance in this move whereas it is impossible to believe that this could become a hit without Salman Khan.
Ajay happily works in various small jobs instead of working in a corrupt system but never interfere in any antisocial activities as he believes that it’s not his job to change the society. However, his silence did not last long when some anti-social elements attacked his family due to some personal enmities with him, so he decided to take the matter into his own hand. Though the film did not perform well at the box office, however, the lead character as Ajay, Salman gives his another stellar performance.
Sanjaya Dutt and Madhuri Dixit may steal audience attention, but we forget to appreciate Salman Khan’s performance and is one of the most underrated performances of his entire career. His role as Akash who is a funny and playboy by nature and later falls for Pooja by faking the identity of a poet whom she admires should be appreciated.
- Karan Arjun
The 90s was the best time for the action movies, and it would not be overrated to call Salman Khan as another brand ambassador among the few like Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty. Even if the movie was full of action still, the story demands a lot of acting performance, and he justifies the director’s decision to cast him as Karan Singh/Ajay. In one sentence we can say that from the 90s to early 2009, Salman Khan was an actor, not just a celebrity.
The only movie where Salman plays a double role and trust me, it is difficult in fact impossible for any other Bollywood actor to give justice to both the innocent Prem Malhotra and vicious thief Raja character. Judwa 2 is nothing, but a substandard movie and there is no comparison between two.
- Hello Brother
The movie box office record is not impressive, and even failed to get the audience and critics appreciation, however, his performance is worth to watch. His character as Hero who falls for Rani but unable to express and unfortunately died and then started teasing Inspector Vishal to avenge his death. Only for Salman Khan’s performance watch it
- No Entry
When we prepare his best performances how is it possible to exclude No Entry? At one side Kishan and Shekhar and another side Prem who is actually a playboy but manages his reputation well and on another side Kishan becomes the victim of his wife’s suspicious nature. Prem’s hidden idea to trap his friend through a dancer Bobby becomes a plot of a clingy story and eventually backfires him. In case you are looking for some of his best comedies don’t forget to include this.
- London Dreams
Probably the last film as an actor, not like a celebrity. Mannu who flirts with married women and find himself in debts and later moves to London to meet his childhood friend Arjun but the destiny has some different plans where he becomes the victim of his best friend’s jealousy who eventually made him a drug addict. However, the movie failed to gain the audience attention but is another underrated performance of his career.
- Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam
A classic love story made by Sanjay Leela Bhansali with a stellar performance of Salman Khan as Sameer, an aspiring singer who falls in love with his music teacher’s daughter but forced to leave. Among the few movies where he has given some realistic performances, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam is one of them.
- Khamoshi: The Musical
Another classic made by Sanjay Leela Bhansali with Salman Khan and we are still thinking how great his career would be where we could compare him with actors like Nana Patekar, Irfan Khan but sadly he chooses to play safe, and Bollywood missed a great actor before its making. It is hard to believe that he does not give much interest in classic movies even after working with directors like Bhansali.
- Tere Naam
Probably one of the best serious performances of his entire career and it is impossible to believe that today’s Salman Khan could become a gem in acting if he continued such performance. Even he proved Anurag Kashyap wrong who did not want to cast him as Radhe and left the movie due to some personal issues with producer and Salman. No one could give justice to the lead character Radhe more than him, and his nomination in Filmfare proved the makers right to choose him in a lead role.
- Andaz Apna Apna
The mind-blowing performance of his entire career and we never expect that he could ever do it again though we still wish to see his the same performance again. The classic comedy was failed at the box office but later accepted by the audience slowly and is hard to believe that even after such performance how it did not get the attention. After seeing such performances, we wonder whether he is the same guy or not because it is impossible to imagine that he is the same actor who worked in movies like Tere Naam, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, and Andaz Apna Apna.
We wish he will step out of his comfort zone and make some classic movies he did before so that we can see his best performances again.
