He belonged to Kar Sevak family

Manohar Parrikar family was also the part of RSS and his mother was his inspiration who herself was a Kar Sevak. When he led 700 Kar Sevaks during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement his mother was also a part of the rally. When the Congress government ordered to lathi charge over the sleeping Kar Sevaks, his mother was also among them who was beaten up.

He was not interested in Politics

Even though he was the part of RSS and acted as a Kar Sevak, he didn’t have any intention to enter politics, but it BJP who tried to make its presence strong in Goa. The party was trying to negotiate with Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) for an alliance, and three prominent faces were deputed to the party but that was not enough. They needed more who can make the party’s presence strong in Goa, and they decided to bring Manohar Parrikar will take part in active politics. When he got information, he refused as he had no intention to join in any kind of politics, but after knowing the urgency he agreed to enter, and rest are history.

He was an entrepreneur

Many people don’t know that Manohar Parrikar was an entrepreneur and was managing his father business too. Before entering into politics, Manohar Parrikar was another energetic IIT graduate who wanted to do something in his engineering field. He also helped his father to manage his store in Mapusa and from there he started his entrepreneurial journey and established two nondescript hydraulic engineering units.

Manohar Parrikar didn’t take government benefits

He is among the few leaders of Indian politics who still hold the moral values and continued it till death. Even though he was the Chief Minister of Goa, he was always available for common people and didn’t follow VVIP culture. He didn’t take the benefits that a CM is eligible for and lived like normal people and most importantly, put his family members away from politics which is rare in Indian Politics. Even though his wife battled for cancer, and died still he was able to manage the balance between the family being a single parent and his own political career. Manohar Parrikar family is one of those rare families who never came to politics despite being relatives of a three-time Chief Minister and one-time defence minister.

The opposition never accused him of corruption

According to NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad, even though the Rafale deal made a huge controversy still, no one was able to point a finger towards him, however, he was always in depression regarding this. In his entire career, no one even raised a question regarding his honesty and integrity whether it’s Rafale deal or anything. He was a man of a clean image and has been admired by both alliances and oppositions.
