Has India turned into lynchistan? The political attitude says so
The sole savior of development came to the power in 2014 with their sky-high election promises with a fear-free state though the success rates are a separate part of the discussion. Currently, let’s discuss the people who lose their lives in the name of cows, where everyone including mainstream media is responsible for the chaos created in the name of cow and communalism. It is interesting to know that some of the poster boys are running slaughterhouses where on one side they preach to save the Holy cow and on the night pay salaries to the workers of their slaughterhouses. If this is not enough, India, where eighty percent of Hindus are worshiping cows is also the largest exporter of beef, and at the same time, lynchings are happening in the name of cows. Purely coincident or Hypocrisy I don’t know though!
Just like a normal day, Lynching becomes a part of our media coverage even though we don’t want to hear more about this still some are justifying it by citing the food habit reason. And the government does nothing to stop cow slaughter even after sitting at the center from the last four years though after the repeated incidents they agree to form two committees to stop mob lynching. It is strange that during the election campaign Narendra Modi slammed the UPA government for becoming the number one in beef export by citing it as pink revolution (similar to green revolution) whereas he even failed to stop it after winning. The situation becomes so worst that except the name there is nothing new and the reason is same and as per Rajnath Singh, he can’t issue a statement as it’s happening on a regular basis and indirectly admits his failure that he failed to protect the innocent lives. On the other side, for the police, taking a tea break and safe passage of the healthy cows are more important than to take hospital a person who was seriously injured and bleeding after the mob attack.
The matter is for votes, not the cow
As long as cows are slaughtered this will help to create a political emergency for both the BJP and Congress where one is portraying as the savior of the sacred animal, and the other is behaving like liberals, whereas everyone knows the truth. Instead of taking care of helpless cows, Gau-Rakshaks are attacking people just by suspecting without any evidence whereas failed to protect the people who are killed by cow smugglers. Cows are dying due to lack of shelters and care, and instead of rescuing them these so-called saviors are killing people and according to a report, these people are extortionists who take money to allow the cattle trade and attack those who refuse. The saddest part is instead of demanding strong action against such goons, BJP ministers started their political war against Rahul Gandhi as he condemned the way police treated the dying Akbar. And not only these three BJP ministers, but also Meenakshi Lekhi started her political attack against opposition by citing the example of a Dalit man in Rajasthan beaten to death because of his alleged affair with a Muslim girl. Though she forgets that she is indirectly admitting BJP ruled Rajasthan is failed to control both lynchings and communal violence. Interestingly the same BJP people didn’t oppose beef ban during the Meghalaya election like they are currently demanding that lynching will stop once people stop eating beef and it’s become common for the ruling party people to issue such statement without any fear of government action.
The young man Rakbar lost his life for a reason he did not intend, and the reality is, he transported the cows for his dairy farm, and that was not a place to slaughter the cows. Though Rajasthan government should take the moral responsibilities for failing to protect the people from being lynched, however, the incidents pointed out towards the dark side of the police – Gau Rakshak alliance according to several reports.
The recent statement of Telangana BJP MLA T Raja Singh Lodh to declare cow as Rashtra Mata is nothing but a publicity stunt to get more attention and indirectly justifying the lynching. It is strange to see even having many supporters inside the party who can speak to save the sacred animal and gaining power in both center, and 13 states (as per July 2018) still, BJP is unable to save the cow, and we don’t know whom to blame.
The attitude of the present government doesn’t show its interest to control the violence caused by cow vigilantes, and the statements issued by the ruling party members are the live example, and in the end, neither cows nor humans are safe in this country. Such unofficial support forced us to believe that lynching is becoming legal in a democratic nation through shadow support. And again India became number one in both beef export and lynching which is not a matter of feeling proud.
