Modi vs All: Karnataka election proved that the fight is to save the identity
The recent Karnataka election may be a shocking result for BJP as even after gaining majority they are forced to sit as opposition and their master strategist Amit Shah unable to save the party even after trying too hard. The party failed to achieve power like it got Meghalaya and other states, and the credit goes to non-other than Amit Shah however, they would not even imagine that their rivals would come together like they did to oust them from the power, especially due to the anti-congress statement by Kumar Swamy. Though anything can happen in politics still, they would not even imagine that the charm of Modi, Amit Shah, and Yeddi would be vain where he has to resign just after taking the oath! After watching such drama, it is clear that current scenario will be only Modi vs rest of the political parties as it seems to be and the recent oath-taking ceremony is the prime example where the rivals took oath along with Kumar Swamy to stop Modi for continuing his second term. Well, only time can say who will win, but for now, we can safely assume they are serious than used to be.
The problem is they failed to recognize the ongoing popularity of Narendra Modi from the beginning and when they realized it’s too late.
When the rise of social media is at peak during 2009 due to increasing popularity of Facebook, Team Modi already understood the power of social media before the mass know what does a social media do. The Prime Ministerial ambition of Modi is not sudden, and he planned it long before the General Election of 2009 and he tried to establish its feet on social media and the Orkut group in support of Narendra Mod was the best example and those were present from 2006! 2008 was the time when it became immensely popular in India, and Narendra Modi is the first Indian politician who joined the social networking site in 2009. The entire episode showed that they planned it before the time and the time when opposition realize it is already late. There was a time when they used to mock by saying him as the Prime Minister of social media, but he proved them wrong and taught them the power of social media.
There is one Prime Ministerial Candidate for BJP, but it’s still not clear that who will lead the opposition.
The last four years are not so impressive for the Modi led BJP government but opposition is yet to understand their failure. While the Congress refused to come out from the dynasty mode, the other leaders from the allies don’t want to destroy their PM dream though Modi successfully manage and close the Nitish Kumar chapter for now; it is impossible for him to fix the issue with others and their allies Shiv Sena and TDP made it more difficult, however, the faith is still on the strategist Amit Shah, but it won’t be cakewalk for them anymore due to the rise of some heavyweights in South.
Karnataka was the last hope for BJP in South and opposition destroyed it by showing their strengths.
BJP’s aim to achieve a footstep in South is not going to be true soon, and in fact, it became tougher in upcoming General Election due to the current loss in the power struggle and the way opposition join hands together, it seems that they will do everything to keep Modi out of power. Admit it or not, whether BJP sits on power or opposition, it always becomes the soft target for the media due to its Hindutva stance, and it becomes more aggressive after the rise of social media. From Babri Masjid to Gujarat riots, Reddy brothers to B. S. Yeddyurappa and Jay Shah chapter; every time it faced media trial, and it sparked controversy after the party decided to bring back the Reddy brothers accused in 35000 crore mining scam whereas DK Shivakumar of Congress chapter didn’t make the same outrage. It is surprised to see that media didn’t give that much of attention to his four corruption cases, forgery and criminal conspiracy like they gave to Reddy brothers. Whatever he did is a separate chapter of discussion, but his work proved that BJP dream to make a mark on Southern state is more difficult than it seems to be and is the only person from Congress that can openly challenge Amit Shah strategy by gathering the opposition leaders on one roof.
Though BJP’s unsatisfactory performance reflects on all the assembly elections still, Modi is beyond their reach and chances of his gaining power for the second time is more even if the opposition decides to continue till the end of the upcoming General election by putting their ego aside. Rahul Gandhi is becoming a risky bet for the Congress and his claims to be fit for the PM position forced the voters to rethink who are unsatisfied due to BJP performance, and it is better not to speak about other leaders but the Congress support to Kumar Swamy as a Chief Minister may be a sign to project him as PM candidates in future though it’s just an assumption, and there are other leaders like Sashi Tharoor, Jairam Ramesh are also present. We don’t know what will happen in the future but one thing for sure, Congress and other opposition parties can do everything to save their identity and will make some tough decisions to put the BJP out of power.
