Rafale deal and no confidence motion drama are two bullets for the upcoming election
After seeing the high voltage no-confidence drama and a hug, it is clear that they both already started preparation for the 2019 General election. The Congress is trying to make its image against corruption and at the same time by creating an emotional impact on Hindu voters. Though these two are completely different, however, similar also from one point of view, and by giving a hug, Rahul Gandhi tried to elaborate what a true Hindu should do. In short, INC is trying to hijack the corruption issues and Hindutva by using one bullet called Rafale. On the other side, BJP is looking confident but didn’t hesitate to criticize the opposition.
A short description of the deal
Though defense minister Nirmala Sitharaman claimed that the origin of the deal is related to Vajpayee led NDA government, but the real story is different and bitter. IAF requires a minimum 42 fighter squadrons to maintain its capability whereas during the 2000-2012 it was declined to 34 due to outdated technologies. And Vajpayee first proposed the deal to buy 126 fighter aircraft but was finalized in 2007. The UPA government also failed to complete the deal as Dassault Aviation refused to take the responsibilities for the quality control of the production of 108 aircraft in India. Afte NDA comes to power, Narendra Modi finalized the deal during his France visit with an agreement that the delivery will be according to IAF standard with a maintenance support from France for a long time.
Though we suppose to see it in India in September 2019, the General election result will decide the future of the deal as we may or may not have the same government.
At one point Congress is pointing at the BJP for making secrecy about the deal and demands to disclose the details in public domain whereas the BJP is refusing to make it open by citing 2008 security agreement that France confirmed again 20th July 2018 through a statement. Interestingly French President Emmanuel Macron’s interview to India Today on his India visit supported to make it confidential however at the same time he also said that to clear the confusion government can share some details with the opposition.
On the other side, Rahul Gandhi has a different story about it that during his meeting, the French president cleared that there is no secret pact between the Indian and French government. No one really knows the truth except the ruling party and opposition.
The negotiators tried to finalize the deal for manufacturing 108 jets during the UPA government, and the interesting fact is without the consent of the defense minister AK Antony. Later it was found that the industry manhour is 2.7 times higher at HAL than Rafale France that ultimately cost 150 crores per fighter jet. However, the Congress government tried to continue with the same number that could be a reason for the failure of the deal. As BJP make it successful, and opposition has no way without doing protest against the government.
A battle for credit not for the nation
Putting the indigenous technology behind which will be a separate part of the discussion where the government is declining to promote it in the defense sector. Come to the straight point about the deal that is yet to help IAF and from the last 16-17 years and no one can imagine the consequence in case war happens. And of course, both BJP and Congress will continue their blame game, and the victim will be the IAF and security of the nation that they hardly care. And in case everything will become perfect, both parties will come for the credit though BJP should get as they finalized it.
High voltage drama with desperate attempts

Even though the opposition has nothing to prove against the Modi government still, they are trying their best to attack and don’t leave a little stone unturned whether it’s Jio institute or Rafale or demonetization or price hike. Though Modi government performance will be decided by the citizens, however, the Congress desperate attempt to break the government through no-confidence motion became another false firing. Its dream to make like the situation like 1999 trust vote became unfulfilled forever, though the poster boy Rahul Gandhi is trying to gain the sympathy votes using Hindu culture and Hug to the prime minister for the upcoming election. It’s clear that after the 2014 election, Congress is doing everything to get the attention from BJP’s core vote bank and yet to get any success but it’s trying, and at least we can confidently say this will continue till the General election 2019. In the end, the public will get nothing whether it’s BJP or Congress doesn’t matter who will come to the power because both are failed in the same ground, and their PR team is doing everything to create a good impression. And we all know whose PR team is strong.
